Some of Grafton early birds we’re able to watch the new Jacaranda Crown be placed on top of the Grafton clock tower in Prince Street early on Wednesday morning.
The clock tower was originally built in 1909 to commemorate the Jubilee of the municipality of Grafton.
The first time the tower was crowned was actually In 1953 when it was decorated with a huge crown, bunting and streamers to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
Since then the clock tower has been decorated with a crown of lights each year to mark the approach of the Jacaranda Festival.
The new crown was lowered into place this morning using a crane from Wicks and parker.
We went back to get some shots In the evening. An elegant display of white led lights. The Jacaranda flowers have started to emerge and over the coming weeks the jacaranda flowers will come out more and more everyday.
I’m looking forward to all the events over the coming month.
